The History Of Everhot

In the mid 1970s, Ossie Goring decided to create a more energy efficient version of the cooker he had at the time. He liked that his heat storage cooker kept the kitchen warm, and that the ovens were always on and ready to use, but the high running costs of the cooker concerned him. Ossie decided to try and create a cooker that he could power using the small but constant amount of electricity that was produced by his water turbine. Ergo, the Everhot was born…

After perfecting a ‘trickle feed’ design, the cooker could be run off a standard 13amp plug, allowing anyone to install one in their home.  The cooker was then sold in small quantities to friends and family before being commercially launched in 1995. Since then, the business has remained in the family and has steadily grown. The cookers have been ever-improving, leading the way in innovation, efficiency, design and functionality. Sustainability has remained at the forefront of the companies priorities, with the cookers being hand built in a carbon negative factory, just 3 miles up the road from the original water mill where the cooker was first invented. The cooker is made from parts almost exclusively sourced from the UK, and we supply cookers to over 100 dealers all over the country. Coaley Mill remains as the headquarters of Everhot, with the water turbine still powering the showroom along with solar panels and a biomass heating system. Coaley Mill also doubles as a wildlife haven, providing a habitat for a huge range of wildlife. In order to maintain Everhot’s carbon-negative status, profits made by the company are spent planting trees and rewilding the local environment. In the last 13 years, over 50,000 trees have been planted at the rewilding sites and we aim to continue protecting our beautiful British countryside.
