Get your cooker summer ready:

As it gets warmer, it makes sense to tweak how you run your cooker to keep your kitchen cool. Luckily for Everhot owners, your cooker is designed to be controllable, making it easy for you to reduce the heat output into your room without losing your source of cooking.

Here are a few suggestions to help reduce the heat output of your cooker:

  1. Auto-eco, or ‘Summer Mode’ is a setting that essentially sends your cooker to ‘sleep’ overnight, therefore reducing the heat output into your room (and your electricity bill). To put your cooker into auto-eco mode, all you need to do is click (don’t hold) the eco button until it flashes. If your eco light doesn’t start flashing on your first click, simply press There are three eco variations that you can cycle through: Off (no eco light), auto eco (flashing green light), and permanent eco (solid green light). You can adjust the time your cooker goes to sleep and wakes up. If you need help programming your cooker, take a look at our YouTube videos, or the manual that comes with your cooker. If you are still not sure, give us a call and we will happily talk you through it.

  1. A further step would be to turn off your bottom oven(s). They are stainless steel, which allows them to be turned off without the risk of needing a wire brush at the end of the summer. Many people find they are using their bottom ovens less in the summer and if this is the case, this is another sensible step to reduce heat in the kitchen and running costs.

  1. If you have got your cooker in ‘summer mode’ and your bottom ovens are turned off, you should be set for the summer months. If the weather is unseasonably warm, the plates can be turned down – we would recommend a simmer temperature, so the plates can still be used but give off very limited heat.  This step is only really feasible if you have an induction hob model; the induction can be used as the boiling plate, and the cast plates can be used to simmer things subsequently.

Things to keep in mind and FAQs:

  • Whilst all of your ovens and hotplates typically have separate elements and heat up individually, bear in mind they do support each other. If you want to cook a Sunday roast, it’s worth turning everything on well in advance.
  • If you just want to use one oven, make sure it is your top roasting oven! This oven is designed to be your ‘hot’ oven.
  • We don’t recommend your Everhot be always kept in eco and turned up each time for cooking. This saves very little energy and loses many of the benefits of your Everhot.
  • If you are going away, instead of turning the cooker off, we would recommend putting the cooker in permanent eco (solid green light next to your eco button).
  • If you are using ‘auto-eco’, we would advise you not to have overnight temperatures less than 40% of your usual working temperatures.
