Everhot Generation 5
This month we released our new Everhot Generation 5 control box. This control box has added a number of features that allow further controllability and flexibility of your cooker, along with improvements to the power supply resiliency. Looks-wise, we have made a few changes; you may have noticed the new lights on the top left of the control box, these will show you whether you have activated the wifi, grid awareness, follow the sun, or the smart tariff modes. If you have an external control box, you may also notice a small antenna.
What are the new features?
The new control box boasts features which maximise the efficiency and flexibility of the cooker. These include:
Wifi Connectivity:
Connect your cooker to wifi and use our new app to make easy adjustments to your eco settings and temperatures.
Grid Awareness Mode:
Designed primarily for those owners who generate their own power and have a limited supply (e.g. wind, solar, or hydro installations), but also for those customers who want to help the national grid cope in times of high demand, it will temporarily stop energy being supplied if it senses a shortage of supply. In times of excess supply, there is also the option for the cooker to store more heat by automatically raising the temperature.
Follow the Sun Mode:
Using our ‘Follow The Sun’ setting you can automatically adjust the cookers Eco setting to coincide with sunrise and sunset for maximum use of solar production. Within the follow the sun function you can delay the heating of the cooker to maximise the use of your solar production, the delay is especially helpful for homes with smaller solar arrays.
Smart Tariff Mode:
Many “Smart” tariffs are arriving on the energy market now, with either cheaper overnight rates, or rates that vary throughout the day. Select your energy tariff in the Everhot app, and the cooker will automatically adjust your ECO schedule by up to 2 hours if doing so will be more cost-efficient.
FAQ:
Can I have a new control box retrofitted?
Yes, we will be able to retrofit a new Everhot Generation 5 control box. However, this service is not available at this point in time, we are hoping to offer it sometime next year.
Do I have to connect my cooker to wifi/ do I have to use the new features?
No! If you would like to run your cooker without the new features that is absolutely fine. We understand that many people may not want to use these new features and if that is the case, you can use it exactly how you would have used the previous control box.
Why would I need to connect my cooker to the wifi?
Although for some people, having access to your cooker through an app may not appeal, there are some instances where it can come in very handy. For those with cookers in holiday homes, the ability to take your cooker out of eco before you arrive is now a luxury you can enjoy. You may also benefit from using your wifi connected cooker when you are on holiday. If you forget to put your cooker into eco during the pre-holiday rush, you can now do so from anywhere in the world (provided you are connected to wifi). On your way home from holiday you can take your cooker out of eco before you get home so you can arrive to a cosy kitchen with your cooker ready to use.
Furthermore, our app allows you to check and change your cooker settings from your phone making the process potentially more user-friendly.
